Home-made Garlic Naan!!
Hi guys! Sakshi is back!!
Today we are going to be making a yummy Indian delicacy, Garlic naan!!
Naan is a kind of Indian flat bread that can be the main part of any delicious meal!
It will especially taste good with the fried paneer recipe that we posted earlier this week π
This is also a recipe without yeast!
Let's get started!
Ingredients-
2 & 1/2 Cup All purpose flour Salt to taste 3/4 Tsp Baking powder
1/2 Tsp Baking soda
1/4 Cup Yogurt/Curd
1/2 Cup Milk
1 Tsp Sugar
3 Tsp Cooking oil
2-3 Tsp Water
Cooking oil
Onion seeds
Chopped fresh coriander
Butter (softened at room temperature)
½ cup butter (or spread of choice), softened at room temperature.
2 garlic cloves , minced (or 1 teaspoon garlic powder)
2 tablespoons fresh chopped parsley/coriander
Salt to taste (if using unsalted butter)
Method to follow-
Garlic Butter
Take your softened butter, minced garlic, parsley/ coriander and salt in a bowl and gently combined them with a spatula or spoon. It's as simple as thatπ!! Your garlic butter is ready to go on our naan! Put your butter aside for now, if you have some leftover then don't worry! You can spread it on almost anything from corn on the cob to normal breadπ!
Naan
Now coming to the naan! First let's make the doughπ. Take your flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda in a somewhat big bowl. Add in the curd/ yogurt and before adding the milk, make sure to stir the sugar into it, add in the cooking oil and knead with your hands until it becomes a stretchy dough. Don't add the water unless you need it, you might not need it because there is already water in the curd. Knead for at least 10- 15 minutes, (I know it's tiring πbut believe me it's worth it) since we are not using yeast in this recipe and we need to form that gluten, so get kneading!π
Now keep your dough in a covered bowl and let it rest for 15- 20 minutes.π
Now you need to sprinkle some flour on the surface you want to roll your dough on (make sure it's clean!) and take a rolling pin out π. Take out the dough and knead it for a few more seconds π . Now tear it apart into a few medium sized pieces (depends on how big you want your naan I like mine to be big π). roll the dough out into an oval shape, now, to add a bit more flavour, you can sprinkle some onion seeds on the rolled out dough for extra flavour π. Flip the dough and gently add some water to one side, yay your dough is ready to go on the panπ! Prepare a tawa or pan on medium heat and put the dough on the pan with the side on which you spread the water facing down.
Now, if you put enough water after some time you can flip the pan over with the naan directly onto the flame. Move it around a bit (make sure not to burn it!π¬)
